Mc Grath Cup Quarter-Final - 15/01/12
Venue - CIT

CIT 2-16    IT Tralee 2-05

Our Senior footballers took on C.I.T. in the quarter final of the Mc Grath Cup yesterday in C.I.T. After their recent victory against Waterford in the earlier round of this competition confidence was high in the camp but unfortunately Tralee came in the way of a more clinical Cork side.

Tralee started well and when Gary O Driscoll found the net things began to look promising for the kingdom boys but still went in at the break two points down.

CIT started the second half well and turned a two point lead into a seven point lead within ten minutes. This was the turning point of the game and Tralee although they had chances failed to capitalise. Barry O Hare found the net to give Tralee a glimmer of hope but this goal was followed up by two further points from CIT to extend their lead again.

It was a great achievement for Tralee to get to this stage of the competition, their first time since 2005, but alas this is where the road ends as far as the Mc Grath Cup is concerned for the boys.

All roads lead to Galway on the 1st of February where Tralee will play their first Sigerson game since 2008 against Sligo.

The Tralee team was
Paul O’Sullivan(Kerry), Eoin Murray(Meath), Joe Scully(Kerry), David Larkin(Wexford), AJ O Connor(Cork), Shane Brosnan ©(Kerry), Keith Conway(Kildare), Ruarai Deane(Cork), Gary O Driscoll(Kerry) (1-0), Shane Carroll(Kerry), Barry O Grady(Kerry), Brendan Poff(Kerry)(0-1), Alan O Donoghue(Kerry)(0-1), Mikie Brennan(Kerry) and Barry O Hare (Louth)(1-2).
